Port Aransas Birding Center
View from the top of the wooden tower at the Birding Center in Port Aransas. This structure was built so the average person easily walk out into the wetlands to view wildlife. We saw lots of birds, crabs, and fish in the water. A few years ago we saw an alligator in this water.

Red is my favorite color. I really like the way my camera captures the color red. So.... here's a nice red flower in my home state of South Dakota.

A nice shot of some sunflowers taken at the end of summer. Some of the sunflowers still looked nice, and others seemed to have expired for the year. This was taken near Pagosa Springs, Colorado.

Twisted!
I took this one along the Black Canyon NP rim drive. From what I can tell it is a highly-photographed scene. So I had to take one too.

Camping at Black Canyon
We're back from a camping trip to the Black Canyon National Park in Colorado. We camped at the East Portal and this view was only a couple minute walk from the campsite. Black Canyon NP is a very scenic place.

Is that snow I see?
This is typical of the type of scenery you would see on Pike's Peak in Colorado. It is devoid of trees at the top but the scenery is still awesome.

This is from one our favorite destinations: Port Aransas, Texas. It is one of my favorite photos from there taken a few years ago. I was photographing the boats and this seagull showed up and decided he wanted to be photographed.

Fun at The Great Sand Dune National Monument
This was taken last summer at The Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado. It turned out to be a really neat experience. There was a little stream of water flowing across the sand in front where everyone could play in water and sand to stay cool. When you walked out on the dryer portions of the sand the temperature felt about 10 degrees hotter.

Cottonwoods in Winter
This is a photo of the bare branches of a Cottonwood tree in the middle of winter. Cottonwood trees seem to be all over the midwest. This photo was taken in southeastern South Dakota when the temperatures were much, much less than they are now in the middle of summer.

Did you see what I herd?
These buffalo are on the Kreycik River View Elk & Buffalo Ranch near Niobrara, Nebraska. Their website is: http://www.nebraskaelktours.com. You get to ride through their property to see Buffalo and Elk up close and personal. It was a pretty cool experience.

Chief Standing Bear Memorial Bridge
The Chief Standing Bear Memorial Bridge was dedicated in August of 1998. The bridge connects the gap between South Dakota Highway 37 and Nebraska Highway 14. The bridge is a memorial to the Ponca Indian Chief Standing Bear. The sun was beginning to set and produced a nice glow on the bridge.

Seashells on the patio
I dug my macro camera lens out and took some closeup photos of this seashell. The seashell was about the size of a nickel and I wanted to see how the lens made it look with my camera since I don't use this lens very often.

Flamingos at the zoo
It was the last day of Saturday zoo school at the Fort Worth Zoo. Of many photos to choose from I chose this one. It was bright, sunny, and hot today so I picked one where the animal was enjoying their time in the water.
